Located in the vicinity of Boonville is the Hayes House.
The Benjamin F. Hickox House is located 2 miles southeast of Boonville, Missouri.  It was built in 1821 by Marcus Williams, Boonville brick maker and contractor.  It was one of the first brick houses built in Cooper County.  The house was estensively altered in 1825 by the addition of a mansard roof.  The parlor mantel is original.  Hickox was a member fo the State Constitutional Convention of 1828.  The Family papers are at the Missouri Historical Society in St. Louis, Missouri.  The house was destroyed in the 1940s. The William Potter house is located close to Boonville. The house was begun during the 1820s when the Potter family moved from Boonville; prob ably enlarged at various times.  Before the Civil War this farmhouse was the center of a highly developed farm with a small village of slave cabins, and other outbuildings.    The house was destroyed in the 1940s. The Pulley house located near Speed, Missouri was built around 1835.  The house originally possessed a rambling frame and log wing.  The brick portion remaining is uniquely local.  The bottom door on the side is made of thick walnut planks studed with wrought iron nails.  The shutters are original.  The front door is of the six panel type.  The first floor originally contained two rooms, divided by a central hallway.  A smilar arrangement was carried out on the second floor.  The parlor mantel was of white and black walnut.  On either side of the chimney were built in cupboards with panelled doors.  Unusual in type, decoration, and interior design.  An 18th century type that somehow was built in 19th century Missouri. The Shoemaker house is located on State Route 5 in the vicinity of Boonville.  It was built between 1860 and 1865.  There is a carved stone lintel above the door bearing the name of the builder and date the house was begun.  Legend says that the war prevented Shoemaker from finishing his home and he was not able to complete it until about 1865.  Stone blocks by the doorway are part of the original stone mantel in the parlor.  This is an exterior corner photograph of the house.
